US Expat LLC operates the US Expat website and brand. This Privacy Policy explains how US Expat LLC, referred to as “US Expat,” “we,” “us,” or “our,” collects, uses, stores, and shares personal information when visitors use usexpat.com, submit a form, request educational materials, subscribe to communications, or otherwise interact with the website.

By using the website, visitors acknowledge the practices described in this Privacy Policy.

1. Scope of This Policy

This Privacy Policy applies to personal information collected through usexpat.com and related website pages, forms, questionnaires, subscriptions, downloads, and communications.

It does not govern the privacy practices of independent contributors, professional firms, or third-party websites.

When information is shared with an independent professional at a visitor’s request, that professional may separately collect and use the information under their own privacy policy, engagement terms, and professional obligations.

The website is hosted on GoDaddy managed WordPress hosting, whose servers maintain standard access and security logs. Information collected automatically through those logs and the ordinary operation of the website may include:

  • Pages viewed
  • Date and time of access
  • Technical and diagnostic information

The website does not currently run third-party analytics or advertising tools. Fonts displayed on the website are served by Google Fonts, which means your browser requests font files from Google’s servers and transmits your Internet Protocol address to Google in the process, subject to Google’s privacy policy.

3. Sensitive Information

Visitors should not submit Social Security numbers, taxpayer identification numbers, financial-account credentials, passwords, complete tax returns, medical records, passport copies, identification documents, or other highly sensitive information through ordinary website forms or email.

If sensitive information is voluntarily submitted, US Expat LLC may process it only as reasonably necessary to respond, protect the website, comply with law, preserve required records, or direct the visitor to a more appropriate secure process.

  • Google Fonts — delivery of the typefaces displayed on the website

Contributors and Professional Firms

When a visitor requests an introduction, consultation, or assistance, relevant information may be shared with an independent contributor or professional firm.

Only information reasonably necessary to respond to the request is shared.

A professional receiving information may process it under their own privacy policy, engagement terms, and professional obligations.

Submitting a form does not create a professional, advisory, fiduciary, attorney-client, accountant-client, tax adviser-client, insurance, or other regulated relationship.

Legal and Business Purposes

Information may be disclosed when reasonably necessary to:

The website uses a small set of cookies and browser-storage technologies:

  • Essential — required for core website functions, security, spam prevention, and site access. These cannot be switched off.
  • Functional preferences — small browser-storage entries that remember visitor choices, such as whether the on-site chat assistant has already introduced itself and the cookie preferences selected. These can be switched off.

The website does not currently set analytics or advertising cookies.

Visitors can review and change nonessential preferences at any time using the Cookie Preferences control in the footer of every page.

9. Spam and Security Measures

Website forms are protected by spam-prevention measures that run on our own server, including hidden honeypot fields, submission rate limits, and one-time email verification codes for guide downloads.

Comment spam, where commenting is available, is filtered by the Akismet service operated by Automattic, which may process the submitted content and related technical information, including the Internet Protocol address, under Automattic’s privacy policy.

The website does not currently use Google reCAPTCHA.

10. Email and Marketing Communications

Newsletter and marketing consent is collected separately from the submission of a general contact, consultation, download, or questionnaire form, through its own unchecked, affirmative checkbox.

Every marketing email contains a functioning unsubscribe mechanism.

Unsubscribing from marketing emails does not prevent nonmarketing communications reasonably necessary to respond to a request, provide a requested resource, administer an event, or address a legal, operational, or security matter.

11. International Data Transfers

US Expat LLC is based in the United States.

Information may be processed or stored in the United States or other countries where service providers operate.

Those countries may have privacy laws different from the visitor’s country.

Where required, appropriate safeguards will be used for international transfers.
