Privacy Policy
Effective Date: July 22, 2026 · Last Updated: July 22, 2026
US Expat LLC operates the US Expat website and brand. This Privacy Policy explains how US Expat LLC, referred to as “US Expat,” “we,” “us,” or “our,” collects, uses, stores, and shares personal information when visitors use usexpat.com, submit a form, request educational materials, subscribe to communications, or otherwise interact with the website.
By using the website, visitors acknowledge the practices described in this Privacy Policy.
1. Scope of This Policy
This Privacy Policy applies to personal information collected through usexpat.com and related website pages, forms, questionnaires, subscriptions, downloads, and communications.
It does not govern the privacy practices of independent contributors, professional firms, or third-party websites.
When information is shared with an independent professional at a visitor’s request, that professional may separately collect and use the information under their own privacy policy, engagement terms, and professional obligations.
2. Information We Collect

- Internet Protocol address
- Browser type
- Device type
- Operating system
- Referring website
- Pages viewed
- Date and time of access
- Technical and diagnostic information
The website does not currently run third-party analytics or advertising tools. Fonts displayed on the website are served by Google Fonts, which means your browser requests font files from Google’s servers and transmits your Internet Protocol address to Google in the process, subject to Google’s privacy policy.
3. Sensitive Information
Visitors should not submit Social Security numbers, taxpayer identification numbers, financial-account credentials, passwords, complete tax returns, medical records, passport copies, identification documents, or other highly sensitive information through ordinary website forms or email.
If sensitive information is voluntarily submitted, US Expat LLC may process it only as reasonably necessary to respond, protect the website, comply with law, preserve required records, or direct the visitor to a more appropriate secure process.
4. How We Use Information
We may use personal information to:
- Respond to questions and requests
- Provide requested educational materials
- Review consultation or introduction inquiries
- Connect visitors with relevant independent professionals when requested
- Send newsletters, educational updates, and event information where authorized
- Operate, maintain, secure, and improve the website
- Understand website use and performance

- Complete a permitted business reorganization, merger, financing, sale, or transfer
We will not use personal information for a materially different purpose without appropriate notice where required.
5. Legal Bases for Processing
Where applicable law requires a legal basis, personal information may be processed based on:
- Consent
- Steps requested before entering into an agreement
- Performance of an agreement
- Legitimate interests in operating, securing, and improving the website
- Responding to inquiries
- Compliance with legal obligations
- Protection of legal rights and safety
Visitors may withdraw consent for future processing where processing is based on consent.
Withdrawal does not affect processing that occurred before consent was withdrawn.
6. How We Share Information
Personal information may be shared with the following categories of recipients.
Service Providers
We use a small number of service providers to operate the website and communications:
- GoDaddy — website hosting and server infrastructure
- WordPress — the software platform on which the website and its forms run
- MailPoet and the MailPoet Sending Service — newsletter management, subscriber and consent records, and delivery of website emails (including verification codes and form notifications)
- Akismet (operated by Automattic) — spam filtering
- Google Fonts — delivery of the typefaces displayed on the website
Contributors and Professional Firms
When a visitor requests an introduction, consultation, or assistance, relevant information may be shared with an independent contributor or professional firm.
Only information reasonably necessary to respond to the request is shared.
A professional receiving information may process it under their own privacy policy, engagement terms, and professional obligations.
Submitting a form does not create a professional, advisory, fiduciary, attorney-client, accountant-client, tax adviser-client, insurance, or other regulated relationship.
Legal and Business Purposes
Information may be disclosed when reasonably necessary to:
- Comply with law or legal process
- Protect rights, property, security, or safety
- Investigate fraud, misuse, or security incidents
- Enforce the Terms of Use
- Complete a merger, acquisition, restructuring, financing, sale, or business transfer
7. Sale and Advertising Use
US Expat LLC does not sell personal information for monetary consideration.
The website does not currently use advertising pixels, remarketing tools, cross-context behavioral advertising, or affiliate tracking technologies. If any such technology is introduced in the future, this Privacy Policy and the Cookie Preferences control will be updated first, and applicable opt-out controls will be provided.
8. Cookies and Similar Technologies
The website uses a small set of cookies and browser-storage technologies:
- Essential — required for core website functions, security, spam prevention, and site access. These cannot be switched off.
- Functional preferences — small browser-storage entries that remember visitor choices, such as whether the on-site chat assistant has already introduced itself and the cookie preferences selected. These can be switched off.
The website does not currently set analytics or advertising cookies.
Visitors can review and change nonessential preferences at any time using the Cookie Preferences control in the footer of every page.
9. Spam and Security Measures
Website forms are protected by spam-prevention measures that run on our own server, including hidden honeypot fields, submission rate limits, and one-time email verification codes for guide downloads.
Comment spam, where commenting is available, is filtered by the Akismet service operated by Automattic, which may process the submitted content and related technical information, including the Internet Protocol address, under Automattic’s privacy policy.
The website does not currently use Google reCAPTCHA.
10. Email and Marketing Communications
Newsletter and marketing consent is collected separately from the submission of a general contact, consultation, download, or questionnaire form, through its own unchecked, affirmative checkbox.
Every marketing email contains a functioning unsubscribe mechanism.
Unsubscribing from marketing emails does not prevent nonmarketing communications reasonably necessary to respond to a request, provide a requested resource, administer an event, or address a legal, operational, or security matter.
11. International Data Transfers
US Expat LLC is based in the United States.
Information may be processed or stored in the United States or other countries where service providers operate.
Those countries may have privacy laws different from the visitor’s country.
Where required, appropriate safeguards will be used for international transfers.
12. Data Retention
Personal information will be retained only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, including:
- Responding to inquiries
- Maintaining business records
- Meeting legal or regulatory obligations
- Resolving disputes
- Protecting legal rights
- Maintaining website security
Retention periods may depend on the type of information, purpose of collection, continuing relationship, legal obligations, security requirements, and dispute-resolution needs.
Information no longer reasonably needed may be deleted, anonymized, or securely disposed of.
13. Information Security
US Expat LLC uses reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect personal information.
No website, email transmission, information system, or storage method can be guaranteed completely secure.
14. Privacy Choices and Rights
Depending on location and applicable law, visitors may have rights to request:
- Access
- Correction
- Deletion
- Restriction
- Objection
- Portability
- Withdrawal of consent
- Marketing opt-out
- Information about categories collected or disclosed
Privacy requests may be sent to info@usexpat.com.
US Expat LLC may verify identity before completing a request.
Information may be retained where permitted or required by law.
Visitors in jurisdictions with a data-protection authority may have the right to submit a complaint to the appropriate authority.
15. Children’s Privacy
The website is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 18.
US Expat LLC does not knowingly seek personal information from children under 13.
If US Expat LLC learns that a child has submitted personal information, it may delete that information where reasonably appropriate.
16. Third-Party Websites
The website may link to third-party websites, professional firms, platforms, products, and resources.
US Expat LLC does not control their privacy, security, accuracy, availability, or data practices.
Visitors should review third-party privacy policies before providing information.

This Privacy Policy may be updated periodically.
The revised version will be posted with an updated Last Updated date.
Material changes will be communicated through the website or another reasonable method where required.
